When will religions be held accountable?

If I drive my car into someone's property and do damage, I'm held responsible. If a company drops toxic waste into the water system, they are made to pay a fine and are held responsible. Our social system holds agencies responsible for the damages they do in the normal operation of their affairs. Why not religions? When are the religions going to be held accountable for the atrocities they have wrought upon mankind? For example: the inquisition to name one.
