Ive just bought astra sportive van. when driving 50 - 70 mph it holds back like missfiring quite bad any ideas

my van holds back especially when accelerating quite bad jolts some body told me it could be air flow sensor or solenoid i dont no is this a common fault with 2.0 l dti 16v sportive van
