GPS power question -need external charge?

I have a brand new Garmin GPS unit, but my cig lighter is shot. So my unit is essentially useless. Here is my question-I only will need the GPS for trips less then 2 hours at the most. Is there a way I can charge it up on my PC, like I do my IPOD. Then I can use my GPS w/o any other power source in my car?
