Kawasaki 250 bayou atv, replaced plug, plug wire, cleaned carb 5 times and 93 octane gas .?

adjusted mixture screw back and forth. It sat for almost 2 yrs smelt like varnish but cleaned out and only use 93 octane. Im about to go back to drinking. I have slight backfire or miss 2 min after start up
